Thinking of getting a tub of Gatorade powder (for water bottle during and after training, particularly after a decent workout). Any comments, advice, best one(s) to get?

Thinking of getting a tub of protein powder, to chuck a spoonful in the blender with yoghurt, strawberries etc. There are some on the market for "triathletes", one called Endura. The protein powder market is such a maze, so many rip offs. Don't want to take it if it's unecessary. Would love your advice, to know what u use, what works for you. Many thanks.

Calculated my max aerobic heart rate (138) and stuck to this (including during all inclines and declines, it's interesting how much uv got to pick up the pace downhill just to maintain 138).

86 mins, flat course by the yarra (av hr 137).

Best i've ever felt during a run.

Best of all, felt fantastic afterwards (from the moment i stopped), not the slightest niggle or tightness and fresh as a daisy. Wasn't starving hungry and no cravings, which made it easy to stick to my nutrition. Have felt great all day.

Visited Chris this morning at The Alfred. It seems he was hit in the head by a Tarago mini van. He doesn't remember the accident. The blow to the head caused a small bleed on the brain. A CT scan showed no injury. (If he experiences any headaches, blurred vision etc over next few weeks he's to see the neurosurgeon.) He also has a black eye. He has some pain in his neck, shoulder and mouth/nose area. Amazingly, the rest of his body is almost mark free. He's very relieved that he hasn't broken any bones. He was released at lunchtime today. He's to have the next two weeks off work and will commence some rehab after that. He may be back at training a couple of weeks after that. Here's hoping. The police have filed a report and are involved, as is the TAC. It's fair to say it's shaken him up a fair bit. I'm sure he'd love a text from his squad buddies if you get a chance. 0438 336 366 ..........michael gillies smith
